Vista Heights School is a S4 school: Start Smarts Stay Safe. S4 is a partnership between the Calgary Police Service and the Calgary Board of Education. It brings police officers in the classroom to work with the teachers and engage the students in strengths-based lessons. Today Constable Scott visited our Kindergarten classes to talk about how we can use our 5 senses to stay safe. He showed us some of the extra tools police officers use on the job but he emphasized that our fives senses are the most important tools we have to keep us safe.

He showed us how to identify a police officer by their uniform.
He reminded us that police officers are friendly people to talk to.
Constable Scott also talked about calling 911 in the case of an emergency. Ask me to give you an example of an emergency. Please talk to your child about the importance of calling 911 in the case of an emergency.

In gym we had fun playing relay games. We had to practice waiting our turn and then hopping through the  hoops as quickly as possible.

Have a great weekend!
