Today we read a book about growing beans.


After reading about how beans need soil, water and sun to grow we decided to do a science experiment to see if we could get bean seeds to sprout by exposing them to water and light and no soil.

We took a survey to see how many students thought that we make beans sprout without soil.Those of us with thumbs up think they will sprout and those of us with thumbs down do not think they will sprout.

First we drew and labeled a diagram  of our experiment in our science books.

Next we labeled a plastic bag with our names.

Then we placed two beans in wet paper towel and placed them in our plastic bags.

Finally we chose a spot in the classroom where we thought the beans might sprout.

Ilyas,Timmy, Ahmed and London placed their beans near the window because they thought the seeds needed sun.

Royce chose a corner spot away from the window because it was nice and shady.

Aliyah placed hers on the bulletin board because there was a lot of air.

 Talson and Rayne placed theirs on the white board because they thought the seeds needed some warm and some cold. If it gets too much sun it will die.

Aariz placed his bean on the back of our kitchen because too much light will make it die.

We will be observing our bean seeds to see if they will sprout without any soil.... Stay tuned.

Mrs. Reimer read us a great book today about feeling confident, it helped us learn more about our virtue of the month .
